Kamo State Explains Funke Akindele’s Absence From Movie Premiere

Skit maker and Nollywood actor Akinyoola Ayoola, popularly known as Kamo State, has dismissed speculation of a rift between him and actress Funke Akindele following her absence from the premiere of his debut cinema film, Star Lomo.

Akindele was notably absent from the Lagos premiere on Sunday, prompting speculation among some social media users about the state of their relationship.

However, Kamo said her absence was simply because she was outside Nigeria.

In a post on X on Monday, he said, “I woke up to see different opinions online about Iyamii and myself. Please, we’re on good terms.”

He added that Akindele had spoken with him about the premiere and promised to support the movie.

“She missed my premiere simply because she wasn’t in the country and nothing more to it, so please don’t assume otherwise,” he said.

Kamo also appealed to fans to stop speculating about their personal relationship and focus on the film.

The actor’s relationship with Akindele became prominent during the production and promotion of Everybody Loves Jenifa in 2024. He subsequently featured in some of her projects and frequently appeared in content shared by the actress.

Their reduced public appearances together in recent months, coupled with Akindele’s absence from the Star Lomo premiere, had fueled speculation of a possible disagreement.

Akindele was reportedly in Ghana with singer Waje, who features in her forthcoming film, The Four, around the time of Kamo’s premiere.
