The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has approved a controlled process allowing candidates who have lost access to their registered phone numbers or email addresses to update their details through designated centres nationwide.
The examination body announced the policy change on Monday through its official X account, stating that the service commenced on September 21, 2026, to assist candidates with genuine cases of lost access to their registered contact details.
JAMB said the update exercise would only be conducted at approved Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres, including relevant State Offices where applicable.
The board stated that the measure was introduced to address challenges faced by candidates who could no longer access the GSM numbers or email addresses linked to their JAMB profiles.
According to JAMB, candidates seeking the service would be subjected to strict identity confirmation and biometric verification before any changes could be approved.
“Please note: The service can be accessed only once and is subject to strict identity and biometric verification,” the board stated.
The examination body warned candidates against using unofficial channels or engaging unauthorised individuals who claim to offer assistance with updating their records.
“For your security, use only designated JAMB centres and avoid unauthorised persons or channels,” JAMB advised.
The board explained that the initiative forms part of its JCARE and JAMB Updates programmes aimed at improving candidate support services.
Under the reviewed policy, eligible candidates may request updates to their registered GSM numbers, email addresses, or both, provided they complete the required verification process.
JAMB, however, maintained that the opportunity would be granted only once for each candidate and would remain subject to successful identity and biometric checks.
The latest development comes as candidates continue to rely on their registered contact details for accessing important admission-related information, including examination updates, profile services and admission processing notifications.
