2027: NDC Disowns Obi-Kwankwaso Campaign Council, Drags Promoter To Disciplinary Committee

In a swift response, the NDC issued a statement signed by its National Chairman, Senator Cleopas Moses, distancing the party entirely from the announcement. The leadership emphasized that the purported list did not originate from the party organs, urging the general public, supporters, and media outlets to completely disregard the unauthorized structure.

The NDC clarified that while consultations are actively ongoing to establish a unified 2027 Presidential Campaign Council, no support group or individual possesses the authority to set up parallel campaign organs. The party reminded all political actors that its candidates are products of the party platform and must operate within the dictates, authority, and discipline of the party structure rather than running independent operations.  

Reaffirming its appreciation for external volunteers and grassroots support, the NDC warned against groups attempting to function as alternative party structures. The leadership urged support organizations to cease public attacks on the party and instead use established internal channels to address any grievances or operational differences.  

Taking a firmer stance against internal insubordination, the party singled out John Ughulu, the Director-General of the OK Movement who championed the council’s unveil. Citing his actions as a serious affront to party authority—alongside alleged misconduct during the party’s primary elections in Lagos State—the NDC referred Ughulu to its appropriate disciplinary committee for formal sanctions.  

The party reiterated its commitment to maintaining order and cohesion across its ranks as it prepares for the 2027 presidential contest. Leaders assured loyalists that the official NDC Presidential Campaign Council will be formally unveiled once all internal consultations and necessary approvals from the National Working Committee are concluded.
