2027: Federal High Court Shifts NDC Primary Case To Wednesday

The Federal High Court in Lagos has adjourned a suit challenging the nomination of candidates by the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, for the 2027 elections until Wednesday, September 16, 2026.

Justice D.E. Osiagor adjourned the matter after counsel to the plaintiffs, Monday Mawah, asked the court to join the party’s nominee, Funsho Dorothy, as a party to the suit and amend the existing processes.

The application was opposed by counsel to the NDC, D.D. Duru.

The court consequently fixed Wednesday to determine whether Dorothy should be joined in the case before further proceedings continue.

The dispute centres on the nomination of candidates by the NDC ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The outcome of the joinder application is expected to determine the next stage of the case as the legal battle over the party’s candidate selection process continues.
