Four court cases challenging the governorship ambition of Senator Solomon Adeola, the All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirant for Ogun State in the 2027 election, have been discontinued by the respective litigants.
Adeola, who chairs the Senate Committee on Appropriations, is seeking the APC governorship ticket ahead of the party’s primary election in Ogun State.
His Media Adviser, Kayode Odunaro, disclosed the development in a statement on Wednesday, saying the withdrawal of the cases coincided with the commencement of the governorship campaign period.
According to Odunaro, the first suit was withdrawn on August 24, 2026, while the remaining three cases were discontinued on September 7, 2026.
He stated that the withdrawals were carried out in open court, with the defendants and their legal representatives formally notified through notices of discontinuance.
The first case, marked FHC/AB/CS/87/26, was filed by Professor Awolola Awoniyi under the Freedom of Information Act 2011 against Adeola, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), APC, Guardian Newspapers Limited and the Inspector-General of Police.
Another suit, numbered FHC/ABJ/CS/844/26, was instituted by Arc. Akerele Abiodun John, Ogun State Chairman of the Booth Party; Mr. Adeyemi Solomon Oluwaseyifunmi, Ogun State Chairman of the Young Progressive Party (YPP); Mr. Ola Olamide Emmanuel of the Action Democratic Party (ADP); Mr. Ayinde Oluwayemisi Abiola, an ADP member; and Mr. Fesomade Gbadebo of the Labour Party.
Adeola, INEC and APC were listed as defendants in the matter.
Odunaro said the other two discontinued cases were suits numbered FHC/ABJ/CS/989/2026 and FHC/ABJ/CS/884/26, involving some of the previously listed political actors and other individuals, including Dr. Olufemi Soluade, Ogun State Chairman of the African Democratic Party (ADP), Mr. Oluwabukola Soyoye Temitope of the Labour Party, and Mr. Ogunremi Abiodu Oluwaseun.
The aide stated that the litigants did not publicly disclose reasons for withdrawing the cases.
However, Odunaro claimed that the individuals behind the suits had become convinced of the merit of Adeola’s candidacy and decided to support his political ambition ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
Adeola, according to his aide, welcomed the development and said it would enable him to concentrate on presenting his plans and engaging with residents across Ogun State.
The senator is expected to continue mobilisation activities across the state as the APC prepares for its governorship selection process ahead of the 2027 general election.
