ABUJA — The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) on Saturday confirmed that it has duly nominated governorship candidates across all 28 states scheduled to conduct gubernatorial ballots during the 2027 general elections.
The declaration counters reports circulating across digital platforms alleging that the opposition platform failed to field standard-bearers in 12 states, an assertion the party described as calculated disinformation intended to undermine its national momentum.
In an official statement issued in Abuja, the National Publicity Secretary of the NDC, Osa Director, dismissed the claims as unfounded fabrications designed to mislead the electorate.
Director clarified that the party executed statutory primary processes to ensure full candidate representation in every state holding gubernatorial elections in 2027.
“Our party is fully prepared, fully structured, and fully on ground in every state of the federation,” Director said. “The NDC is not a regional party. We are a national movement with candidates, structures, and supporters in all 36 states and the FCT.”
The party spokesman called on news organizations, digital publishers, and independent content creators to maintain professional rigour by verifying political claims before publication.
He stated that unverified reportage compromises democratic discourse and damages public confidence in independent journalism.
Director reiterated the NDC’s focus on policy-driven campaigning ahead of the upcoming electoral cycle, maintaining that the platform would not yield to political distractions.
He asserted that the party’s manifesto prioritizes national security, employment generation, and institutional transparency to offer Nigerians an alternative to existing administrative structures.
