Manchester City have formally lodged an appeal against the opinion of the Premier League Commission in the club’s long-running disciplinary case.

The club confirmed that the comprehensive appeal was submitted at 7pm on Thursday, October 1, 2026, challenging the Commission’s findings on several grounds.

In a statement, City said the opinion contained what it described as “clear material errors” of law, principle and fact, maintaining that the decision was unsafe.

The club also reiterated its position that it is innocent of the accusations brought by the Premier League and said it has extensive evidence supporting its case.

The appeal follows the independent Commission’s finding that Manchester City committed serious breaches of Premier League financial rules over several seasons, as well as multiple breaches relating to cooperation with the League’s investigation.

Manchester City said it would continue to respect the disciplinary process but noted that confidentiality rules limit what it can say publicly while proceedings remain ongoing.

The appeal will now be considered as part of the next phase of the case, with the eventual outcome and any possible sanctions yet to be determined.
