Nigerian rapper, Tochukwu Gubemi Ojogwu, popularly known as OdumoduBlvck, has taken a legal step against an alleged attempt by police officers to arrest him in the early hours of Saturday, with his lawyers petitioning the Lagos State Police Command over the incident.
The petition, filed by Marshal Attorneys on Monday, August 31, 2026, was addressed to the Assistant Commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigation Department, Lagos State Police Command.
The legal team alleged that police officers attempted to apprehend the musician around 3:00am on August 29, despite an earlier response to a police invitation issued to their client.
According to the lawyers, the matter was already being handled by the Inspector-General of Police through the Monitoring Unit, while a related case was pending before an Abuja Magistrate Court.
They argued that continuing a separate police process could create unnecessary complications, urging the command to defer to the existing proceedings.
In the petition, the lawyers stated that officers “purportedly acting on your Command swooped on our Client with an invitation letter purportedly issued by your good self.”
The legal team also alleged that the move came despite one of their lawyers previously denying knowledge of the authorship of the invitation letter.
They requested an urgent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident and called for clarification on the actions of the officers involved.
“We request that you cause an urgent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the actions complained of herein,” the lawyers stated.
The petition further urged the police authorities to allow the Inspector-General of Police’s Monitoring Unit to conclude its ongoing review of the matter.
OdumoduBlvck, known for his distinctive style and rising influence in Nigeria’s music scene, has not publicly commented extensively on the development.
The latest controversy comes amid increasing scrutiny over interactions between law enforcement agencies and public figures, particularly in cases involving criminal allegations, investigations and ongoing court matters.
The Lagos State Police Command had yet to issue a public response to the allegations at the time of filing this report.
