City Boy Movement Nigeria has launched its North-East Grand Empowerment Programme in Maiduguri, Borno State, deploying hundreds of commercial trade units, renewable energy systems, mobility aids, and financial grants to drive grassroots economic independence.
The regional intervention was formally inaugurated on Saturday by the National Co-Patron of the organization, Mr. Amir Shettima. The scheme is structured to address regional unemployment, foster self-reliance, and deliver sustainable micro-enterprise infrastructure across the North-East geopolitical zone.
Shettima stated during the launch that the initiative reflects the organization’s dedicated commitment to grassroots engagement, focusing on vulnerable populations and unemployed youths who require productive capital to build viable livelihoods.
Commercial Asset Allocation: Capital Tools and Clean Energy Solutions
The material distribution focused on equipping beneficiaries with productive physical assets tailored to overcome local utility costs and structural economic barriers.
Beneficiaries received 500 deep freezers paired with Point-of-Sale terminals to establish retail cold-chain enterprises and agency banking operations. To bypass local power disruptions and high running costs, the movement provided 100 solar generators alongside mini-solar power units for continuous business operations.
Vocational hardware included 100 sewing machines for garment artisans and desktop computer workstations for digital service providers. Logistics operators received commercial tricycles, while 100 wheelchairs were allocated to persons living with physical disabilities to facilitate economic mobility and direct participation in trade.
Working Capital Disbursements and Regional Expansion
Alongside physical machinery, the organization disbursed direct cash grants to provide immediate liquidity and operational working capital for new and expanding enterprises.
Shettima cautioned beneficiaries against the immediate resale or liquidation of the distributed assets, emphasizing that operational discipline is necessary to achieve sustainable household stability. He affirmed that the Maiduguri launch marks the initial phase of a broader intervention, with operations expanding to neighboring North-Eastern states under the movement’s core objective of empowering people, building communities, and creating opportunities.
