Adeleke: My Osun Victory Is Triumph For Democracy

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has described his victory in Saturday’s governorship election as a triumph for democracy and the people of the state.

Adeleke spoke shortly after the Independent National Electoral Commission declared him the winner of the election on Sunday, expressing gratitude to God and residents of Osun State for supporting his administration.

In a video shared by TVC News, the governor said he felt great following the declaration and dedicated the victory to the people of the state.

“I feel great. First of all, I thank God Almighty for what has happened today. It’s a victory for democracy in Nigeria. A victory for Osun people that stood by me and said, Imole, you have done a lot for us,” Adeleke said.

He pointed to his administration’s achievements in areas including infrastructure, education and agriculture, saying the election result reflected the confidence residents had placed in his government.

The governor added that his victory represented a message of appreciation from the people of Osun for what his administration had accomplished.

Adeleke secured victory in 19 of the 30 local government areas in the election, while the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Oyebamiji, won 11 local government areas.

The election was conducted across the state on Saturday, with the results subsequently collated and announced by the State Returning Officer, Professor Joshua Ogunwole, Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti.
