AGROW: Kyari Pushes Research-To-Farm Drive To Boost Productivity

The Federal Government is moving to close the gap between agricultural research and real results on Nigerian farms, with a renewed push to turn innovations into higher productivity, stronger value chains and improved food security.

The Honourable Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, CON, stated this at the Strategic Consultative Meeting on the preparation of the Technical Proposal for Subcomponent 2.1 of the Nigeria Sustainable Agricultural Value-Chains for Growth (AGROW) Project.

Kyari said AGROW is a strategic investment under the Renewed Hope Agenda aimed at building a competitive, technology-driven and commercially oriented agricultural sector.

He said the initiative will strengthen research, extension and technology transfer systems, ensuring that agricultural innovations translate into practical solutions that improve farmers’ productivity and competitiveness.

The Minister charged IITA and participating research institutions to develop a practical, coordinated and nationally owned framework capable of delivering lasting impact across Nigeria’s agricultural sector.
