A member of the House of Representatives, Donald Ojogo, on Saturday escaped a potentially fatal road crash along the Ore–Ondo Road in Ondo State.
Ojogo, who represents the Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency, was reportedly travelling to Arogbo in Ese-Odo Local Government Area for a political meeting when the accident occurred.
The crash was said to have happened after a commercial bus allegedly attempted a dangerous overtaking manoeuvre, colliding with an oncoming vehicle and causing the accident.
Although Ojogo escaped without serious injuries, some members of his entourage were reportedly injured and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The lawmaker, who recently secured re-election to the National Assembly, expressed gratitude to God for protecting him and his team.
“God took perfect control of the situation and prevented what could have turned into a tragic incident,” Ojogo said.
He attributed the crash to reckless driving, accusing the commercial bus driver of impatience while using the highway.
The injured victims are currently receiving medical attention.
