Iheanacho Joins Bursaspor On Three-Year Deal After Celtic Exit

Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho has completed a surprise move to Turkish club Bursaspor, bringing his spell at Scottish champions Celtic to an end.

The Nigeria international signed a three-year contract that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2029 after joining as a free agent following the expiration of his Celtic contract on June 30.

Iheanacho’s departure comes despite reported efforts by Celtic to retain the 29-year-old. The Scottish club had offered him a new deal after opting not to trigger the automatic 12-month extension clause in his previous contract.

Bursaspor confirmed the signing on Friday, unveiling the former Manchester City and Leicester City forward with an Odyssey-themed announcement video on the club’s social media channels.

The move marks another milestone in Iheanacho’s career, which has taken him from Manchester City to Leicester City, Sevilla and Celtic before his latest switch to Turkey.

Fresh from securing promotion, Bursaspor have bolstered their squad with experienced players as they target another successful campaign and a return to the Turkish top flight.
