The Lagos State Government has honoured two officials of the Office of Physical Planning with the second quarter Officer of the Quarter Award in recognition of their outstanding performance, dedication and commitment to public service.
Speaking during the award presentation at the Ministry’s Conference Room, the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Oluyinka Olumide, said the initiative was aimed at recognising and rewarding staff members who have distinguished themselves through exceptional performance and commitment to duty.
Olumide commended the award recipients for their diligence and professionalism, urging other staff members to emulate their example by striving for greater productivity and excellence in service delivery.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Physical Planning and Urban Development, Hon. Sylvester Ogunkelu, congratulated the awardees and reminded them that “the reward for hard work is more work.”
He encouraged them to sustain the high standards that earned them the recognition and continue serving as role models within the public service.
The Permanent Secretary, Office of Physical Planning, Tpl. Adebayo Wasiu, also praised the recipients, urging them to continue building on their achievements. He stressed that diligence and commitment remain key to career advancement and challenged all staff to remain innovative, focused and committed to the agency’s objectives.
The awards were presented in two categories, with Tpl. Raji Sikiru Abimbola, a Chief Town Planning Officer, emerging as the Management Officer of the Quarter, while Mr. Michael Ubong Samuel, Chief Clerical Officer, received the Junior Officer of the Quarter Award.
Responding on behalf of the recipients, Abimbola thanked the management and staff of the ministry for the recognition, describing it as a motivation to remain committed to professionalism, excellence and efficient service delivery.
The ceremony was attended by directors and senior officials of the Office of Physical Planning, including heads of the Technical Services, Development Matters, Public Affairs, ICT, Finance and Accounts, Planning, Research and Statistics, as well as Administration and Human Resource departments.
