APC Insists Pantami Still A Party Member Despite PDP Governorship Ticket

Gombe State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has maintained that former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Professor Ali Pantami, remains a member of the party, arguing that the process surrounding his purported resignation did not comply with party rules.

Speaking in Gombe on Tuesday, APC Publicity Secretary Moses Kyari said members of Pantami’s ward executive committee had denied receiving or deliberating on any resignation letter attributed to the former minister.

According to Kyari, 25 of the 27 ward executives described claims of Pantami’s resignation as a fabrication, while the ward chairman reportedly said the letter was delivered by a representative and has not been made available to committee members despite repeated requests.

The party argued that under the APC constitution, INEC guidelines and the Electoral Act, Pantami remains an APC member until all resignation procedures are properly completed and verified.

Kyari also rejected claims allegedly made by Pantami that President Bola Tinubu endorsed his move to the Peoples Democratic Party and his governorship ambition, insisting the President remains committed to the APC.

He said Governor Muhammadu Yahaya’s administration has strengthened the party’s position in Gombe through improved governance, infrastructure and political stability, adding that there was no basis for claims of presidential support for political activities outside the APC.

The state chapter called on the APC national leadership and the Presidency to publicly clarify the issue to prevent misinformation.
