Adelabu Family Abduction: OPC Distances Self From Arrested Suspects

The Oodua People’s Congress (OPC) has denied any connection with suspects arrested over the abduction of the sister and twin nephews of former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The group’s President, Wasiu Afolabi, said claims by one of the suspects linking himself to the OPC were false, stressing that the organisation does not tolerate criminal activities and has no ties to the arrested individuals.

Afolabi said the OPC has consistently supported security agencies in tackling crime and warned that criminal suspects often falsely claim membership of the group to mislead investigators or seek sympathy.

He described such claims as impersonation and urged law enforcement authorities to disregard them, reiterating the OPC’s commitment to lawful conduct and collaboration with security agencies in the fight against kidnapping and other violent crimes.
