Ex-Cameroon Minister Seeks French Probe Of Biya, Top Officials

Cameroon’s disputed 2025 presidential election has sparked a fresh legal battle after opposition leader Issa Tchiroma Bakary filed complaints in France against President Paul Biya and several senior officials.

Tchiroma, who is living in exile in The Gambia, alleges that his supporters were subjected to arrests and other human rights violations following the election.

The former minister, who broke ranks with Biya to contest the presidency, insists he won the vote despite official results declaring the 93-year-old president re-elected.

The Cameroonian government has dismissed the allegations, while French authorities will decide whether to open an investigation into the complaints.
