Minister of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musa Musawa, has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting Nigerian artists and creative practitioners, describing art as a powerful tool for national storytelling, cultural exchange and global engagement.
Musawa made the remarks after attending Reclaimed Beauty: A Dialogue Between Continents, an exhibition by renowned Nigerian artist Dotun Popoola.
In a statement shared after the event, the minister said the exhibition underscored the vital role artists play in projecting Nigeria’s image to the world and fostering connections across cultures.
“Art remains one of the most powerful ways nations tell their stories, build connections, and engage the world,” Musawa said.
She noted that Popoola’s exhibition served as a reminder of how Nigerian creatives are using their talents to bridge cultural divides and spark meaningful conversations beyond national boundaries.
According to her, artists have continued to act as cultural ambassadors, leveraging creativity to strengthen ties between people and nations while showcasing the richness of Nigeria’s heritage.
The minister also praised the growing global recognition being enjoyed by Nigerian creatives, saying the development reflects the strength and potential of the country’s cultural and creative industries.
Musawa reiterated that the Ministry of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy remains committed to supporting initiatives and platforms that promote Nigerian talent and expand the reach of the nation’s creative sector.
“As Nigerian creatives continue to gain global recognition, the Ministry remains committed to supporting platforms and practitioners who are expanding the reach and influence of our cultural and creative industries,” she stated.
The exhibition, themed Reclaimed Beauty: A Dialogue Between Continents, brought together artistic expressions aimed at fostering cross-cultural dialogue and highlighting the transformative power of art.
