Emir Sanusi, NTDA Boss Unite On Cultural Heritage, Tourism Development

The Emir of Kano, Khalifa Muhammad Sanusi II, PhD, CON, has reaffirmed the importance of preserving Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage as a foundation for sustainable tourism development and national growth.

The revered monarch made the remarks when he received the Director-General of the Nigerian Tourism Development Authority (NTDA), Dr. Olayiwola Awakan, at the Emir’s Palace in Kano on Tuesday, June 2, 2026.

The visit highlighted growing efforts to strengthen collaboration between traditional institutions and government agencies in promoting Nigeria’s cultural assets and expanding the tourism sector.

During the meeting, both leaders underscored the need to preserve the nation’s diverse cultural heritage while leveraging it as a tool for economic growth, job creation, and national development.
