Allied Peoples Movement (APM) governorship aspirant, Prince Laja Adeoye, re-tuned his political antennae on Wednesday as he marched back home to his political roots in Ejigbo to officially announce his bid for Lagos State Government House before a sea of supporters, party elders and alliance leaders.

The event was a colourful grassroots declaration that brought an equally overwhelming response where supporters of the candidate sang solidarity songs and openly sang support songs for Adeoye’s electioneering campaign “Reset Lagos” in the community of Ward F5 in Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Area.

Adeoye, with a big political entourage and some loyalists, leveraged the event to solicit the blessings and support of leaders and members of the PDP/APM Alliance, which seems intent on building its grassroots base ahead of the next governorship contest.

The declaration has already been seen as one of the first moves towards strategic mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections, particularly as political camps in Lagos engage in subtle negotiations and alliances.

Barr. Umaru Mohammed, State Chairman of the PDP/APM Alliance was among the leaders in the event. APM Lagos State Chairperson, Dr. Amos Fawole; Lagos State Ward F5 Chairperson, Mrs. Shakirat Adeyemo and Hon. Chairman and host of the event, respectively, were all in attendance. Waheed Abdulkareem.

To the supporters, he presented his developmental blueprint titled ‘Atunto Eko 1.0’ which he claimed is a new governance path to reposition Lagos with inclusive leadership and policies focused on people.

The applause during his presentation was interrupted again and again as party members and supporters openly pledged their allegiance to the project.

After the declaration, in a good will message, the PDP/APM Alliance Chairman for Ejigbo LCDA, Hon. Waheed Kareem hailed the turnout as an example of political unity and grassroots strength.

He expressed gratitude to all concerned for their contribution to the great success of today’s event, on behalf of the leadership and the people of Ejigbo LCDA.

He applauded the executives, elders and residents who had come out in huge numbers to support “our dear son” Prince Laja Adeoye of the party.

To Prince Laja Adeoye, let it be known that Ejigbo LCDA is with you and we will do everything possible to see you win in 2027. That’s just the start,” Kareem proclaimed.

Reacting, Adeoye thanked the residents and party stakeholders for their overwhelming reception during the homecoming which had further strengthened his resolve for transformational leadership in Lagos State.

As the opposition PDP/APM Alliance embarks on an upsurge in activities, political observers believe this could be likely to influence opposition analysis in the next cycle of elections, especially as the grassroot mobilisation is gaining momentum in some local councils in the state.

But for now, the declaration in Ejigbo on Wednesday has been a clear message that the battle for Lagos 2027 can well have started quietly.
