Uganda Isolates 100+ People Amid Ebola Scare, WHO Raises Alarm

More than 100 people have been placed under quarantine in Uganda as health authorities move to contain a rare outbreak of the Bundibugyo strain of Ebola.

Officials said the individuals are being monitored at a secure location while medical teams observe them for symptoms, stressing that the situation is under control due to the country’s experience handling previous outbreaks.

Uganda health officials said the response is being led by experienced medical teams, with government representatives urging the public to remain calm and follow safety guidelines.

According to the World Health Organization, the outbreak in neighbouring Democratic Republic of the Congo has already caused at least 131 deaths, with more than 500 suspected cases reported.

Authorities warn that the situation could worsen if not contained, as regional health agencies continue surveillance and response efforts to prevent cross-border spread.
