LASEMA, FAAN Forge Alliance To Boost Airport Emergency Response, Disaster Preparedness

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has moved to strengthen emergency response coordination across Nigeria’s aviation sector following a high-level meeting with the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).

The LASEMA Management Team on Wednesday paid a courtesy visit to the Managing Director and Chief Executive of FAAN, Olubunmi Kuku, in a strategic move aimed at deepening collaboration on aviation-related emergency medical response, disaster management, and first responder training.

The meeting underscored growing concerns over the need for faster and more coordinated emergency interventions at airports amid rising passenger traffic and increasing operational risks within the aviation industry.

Officials at the meeting stressed the importance of synergy between both agencies in tackling emergencies, improving rescue operations, and strengthening national disaster preparedness mechanisms.

According to the agencies, the partnership will focus on enhancing emergency preparedness and response capabilities across airports nationwide while also building the capacity of first responders to handle critical incidents effectively.

Speaking during the engagement, both LASEMA and FAAN reaffirmed their commitment to closer cooperation, noting that proactive planning and inter-agency collaboration remain critical to saving lives and protecting infrastructure during emergencies.

The renewed alliance is expected to improve rapid response systems, emergency medical interventions, and disaster management operations within Nigeria’s aviation ecosystem.
