Israeli Strikes Kill At Least 13 In Lebanon Amid Ceasefire Tensions

Fresh Israeli drone and airstrikes in Lebanon have killed at least 13 people, marking a new escalation despite an existing ceasefire with Hezbollah.

According to Lebanese authorities, three drone strikes targeting vehicles south of Beirut left four people dead, while separate air raids on southern communities claimed at least nine more lives, including a man and his 12-year-old daughter.

Two of the strikes reportedly hit the highway linking Beirut to the port city of Sidon, injuring several people, while another attack on a road leading to the Chouf region killed three, state media said.

Lebanon’s Health Ministry said an airstrike on the southern village of Saksakiyeh alone killed at least seven people, including a child, with 15 others wounded.

The latest violence comes weeks after a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah took effect on April 17, though both sides have continued near-daily exchanges of attacks. Israel earlier this week also carried out a strike near Beirut, saying it targeted a senior Hezbollah military official.
