President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to embark on a three-nation trip covering France, Kenya, and Rwanda, beginning Saturday, May 2, 2026, as part of efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s international partnerships and attract investment.
According to a State House press release issued by presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, the President will make his first stop in France before proceeding to Nairobi, Kenya, to participate in the upcoming Africa-France Summit.
The summit, co-chaired by Emmanuel Macron and William Ruto, is scheduled to hold from May 11 to May 12. It will focus on critical areas such as energy transition, green industrialisation, digital transformation, climate action, and the restructuring of global financing systems.
Themed “Africa Forward: Africa-France Partnerships for Innovation and Growth,” the gathering is expected to bring together African leaders and their French counterparts to deliberate on economic transformation, infrastructure development, youth empowerment, technological advancement, and peace-building across the continent.
Tinubu’s participation, the statement noted, underscores Nigeria’s commitment to deepening strategic ties with African nations and France while advancing collaborative solutions to shared challenges.
Following the Kenya engagement, the President will travel to Kigali, Rwanda, to attend the annual Africa CEO Forum from May 14 to May 15. The forum, themed “Scale or Fail,” is regarded as one of the continent’s largest assemblies of private sector leaders, investors, and policymakers.
Organised in partnership with the International Finance Corporation, the forum is expected to attract over 2,000 participants, focusing on strategies to drive economic growth through regional integration, cross-border investments, and the development of competitive industries.
At both events, Tinubu is expected to outline his administration’s economic reforms aimed at positioning Nigeria as a top destination for investment and sustainable growth. He is also scheduled to hold high-level meetings with global and African business leaders on the sidelines of the summits.
The President will be accompanied by several ministers and senior government officials and is expected to return to Nigeria after concluding his engagements in Rwanda.
