Reality TV star and former Big Brother Naija winner, Phyna, has sparked conversation after revealing that she has no interest in having biological children, saying she would rather devote her care and affection to pets.
In a video shared online, the media personality explained that although she is biologically capable of having children, she does not see motherhood in the traditional sense as part of her plans.
“I’m very fertile, but I don’t have any desire to have a biological child. I just wanna be a cat and dog mum,” she said.
Phyna linked her outlook to personal experiences and emotional growth, noting that repeated heartbreaks and relationship challenges can influence how women view love, commitment, and family life.
She suggested that many women begin to develop stronger emotional attachments to pets as they get older, especially after going through failed relationships or disappointments in love.
“I think the love for animals in women kicks in when we’re approaching our 30s, some of them in their mid-30s, late 30s, especially when you don’t see yourself settling down,” she said.
According to her, this stage of life often leads some women to seek comfort and companionship in animals rather than romantic relationships.
“So women tend to start developing a likeness for pets like that, and I think I’m in that stage right now,” she added.
Her comments have since generated mixed reactions online, with many debating changing attitudes toward motherhood, relationships, and personal choice among young women.
