Senate Agriculture Chair Meets BOA MD, Backs Push For Food Security

Chairman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Senator Saliu Mustapha, on Tuesday held a meeting with the Managing Director of the Bank of Agriculture, Mr. Ayodeji Sotinrin, as part of efforts to strengthen agricultural financing and boost food security in Nigeria.

The lawmaker disclosed this in a post on X (formerly Twitter), noting that the Bank’s chief executive paid him a working visit at his office.

“This afternoon, I received the Managing Director of the Bank of Agriculture, Mr. Ayodeji Sotinrin, who came on a working visit to my office,” Mustapha said.

He described the engagement as productive, adding that discussions centred on advancing the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, particularly in the area of agricultural financing.

“We had a productive engagement focused on the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda… particularly on strengthening agricultural financing to enhance food security and improve the livelihoods of Nigerians,” he stated.

Mustapha reiterated his commitment to legislative support for policies that promote sustainable agricultural development and empower farmers nationwide.

“As Chairman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, I remain committed to supporting policies that drive sustainable agricultural growth, empower our farmers, and strengthen food security across the country,” he added.

The meeting comes amid ongoing efforts by the Federal Government to revitalise the agricultural sector and address food security challenges across Nigeria.
