NCAA Conducts Mock Tabletop Exercise On Family Assistance Plan For Selected Airlines

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), through its Consumer Protection Department (CPD), on Wednesday, 15th April, 2026, at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos, conducted a mock tabletop exercise on Family Assistance Plan (FAP) for some selected airlines, including Aero Contractors, Overland Airways, Arik Air and RwandAir.

The General Manager, Business Education and Awareness (BE&A), Mrs. Pero Sylvia, in her opening speech, highlighted the essence of the exercise to include evaluation of the airlines’ decision-making, coordination, and procedural readiness in implementing its FAP during an aviation emergency.

Also speaking, the Head, CPD Lagos Regional Office, Mr Ibrahim Jafaru, emphasized the need for effective implementation of FAP by various airlines in preparation for the ICAO audit.

The management of the airlines appreciated NCAA for embarking on the incident-response exercise at this defining period, and applauded the great job of the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Capt. Chris Najomo, towards enhancing safety and enforcement of regulatory standards, in which consumer protection and welfare is paramount.

They assured the Authority of their unwavering commitment to aviation safety, promising to comply with the requisite Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as expected of them.
