FRSC Records Zero Crashes As “Operation Safe Kugbo” Intensifies

Abuja, April 11, 2026 — The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has announced a major safety milestone, reporting zero crashes involving articulated vehicles along the Kugbo outbound corridor since the launch of its enforcement drive, Operation Safe Kugbo, on March 18.

According to the Corps, the operation has already restricted 858 articulated vehicles and trucks from operating on the busy corridor during peak hours. Officials say the measure is part of a broader strategy to reduce accidents and improve traffic flow in the Federal Capital Territory.

The initiative is anchored on the National Road Traffic Regulations (NRTR), particularly Section 223, and the FCT Traffic Regulations. It also aligns with the FRSC’s 2026 Corporate Strategic Goal 1, which targets a nationwide reduction in road traffic crashes.

At the tactical level, RS7.13 Nyanya Unit Commander, CRC WF Luka, has been leading patrol teams in enforcing compliance through strategic positioning and real-time traffic management. The Corps emphasised that monitoring will continue, with intensified enforcement to sustain the gains already recorded.

FRSC officials highlighted that the zero-crash record stands as proof of the effectiveness of restricting heavy-duty vehicles during high-traffic periods. Motorists, fleet operators, and truck drivers were urged to maintain strict compliance with the restriction order.

Deputy Corps Commander and Corps Public Education Officer, Osondu Ohaeri, reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to protecting lives and ensuring safer roads across the FCT and beyond.
