NITDA Rallies Stakeholders On Digital Growth, Pushes Collaboration For Economic Transformation

The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has convened key players in Nigeria’s tech space at its IT Stakeholder Engagement and Ecosystem Development Programme, positioning the forum as a critical driver of collaboration, innovation, and inclusive growth.

The engagement, themed *“Creating Opportunities, Breaking Boundaries: Towards Digitalisation and Entrepreneurial Evolution,”* brought together stakeholders from government, private sector, academia, and civil society to explore pathways for strengthening Nigeria’s digital ecosystem.

Representing the Director General of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa, the Director of Zonal Office Coordination, Babajide Ajayi, stressed the importance of digitalisation as a catalyst for economic diversification.

“Digitalisation remains a key pathway to reducing Nigeria’s dependence on traditional sectors. We must leverage technology to create new economic frontiers and equip citizens with the skills needed to thrive in a digital economy,” Ajayi said.

He noted that the agency is pursuing this vision through its Strategic Roadmap and Action Plan (SRAP 2.0) and the National Digital Literacy Framework (NDLF), both aimed at boosting digital capacity and fostering innovation nationwide.

Ajayi further highlighted ongoing efforts to deepen the innovation ecosystem through initiatives such as the Office for Nigerian Digital Innovation (ONDI) and the National Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (NCAIR), which are designed to support startups and advance emerging technologies.

Reiterating the importance of partnerships, NITDA called for stronger collaboration among stakeholders to unlock opportunities and accelerate national development.

The agency reaffirmed its commitment to creating an enabling environment where innovation can flourish, stating that sustained cooperation across sectors will be key to driving entrepreneurial growth and positioning Nigeria as a competitive player in the global digital economy.
