The Lagos State Records and Archives Bureau (LASRAB) attended the official presentation of the book “Alli-Balogun and the Nupe Dimensions of Lagos History,” authored by Dr. Gbolahan Taiwo Alli-Balogun, held on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at the MUSON Centre, Lagos.
The event brought together traditional rulers, scholars, historians, government officials, and cultural enthusiasts to celebrate the enduring legacy of Alli-Balogun and his contributions to the socio-political development of Lagos.
The book, featuring a foreword by Babatunde Raji Fashola (S.A.N, C O N), provides a compelling exploration of the historical linkages between the Nupe people and Lagos, shedding light on previously underrepresented narratives.
The programme served as a platform for re-examining Lagos’ historical narratives through the lens of Nupe influence, with scholarly presentations and discussions illuminating the diverse forces behind the growth of the metropolis.
The Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Information & Strategy, Mr. Olanrewaju Bajulaiye, who anchored the programme, described Lagos as “A living narrative of resilience, innovation, and cultural fusion, emphasising the importance of preserving history for future generations”.
LASRAB showcased cultural artefacts, rare publications, archival materials, and historical photographs, offering guests a deeper, visual engagement with Lagos’ past.
