The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, has called for urgent action to curb illicit financial flows.
This is even as he warned that persistent revenue losses will continue to weaken public finances and increase reliance on debt.
Declaring open the 5th Special Technical Committee Sub-Committee on Tax and Illicit Financial Flows, the Minister highlighted President Bola Tinubu’s ongoing reforms to strengthen tax administration, expand the revenue base, and stabilise the economy.
He stressed that improving domestic resource mobilisation is critical to funding infrastructure, public services, and long-term growth, while creating a more transparent and investor-friendly environment.
“For the public sector and the wider economy, the focus is clear: retain capital, strengthen systems, and unlock sustainable growth” the Minister noted.
