Arsenal Players Pull Out of International Duty After Cup Final Loss

Six Arsenal players have withdrawn from national team friendlies due to injuries shortly after the Carabao Cup final loss to Manchester City.

The players include Gabriel Magalhães (knee pain), William Saliba (ankle injury), Leandro Trossard, Martin Ødegaard, Jurrien Timber, and Eberechi Eze.

Gabriel withdrew from the Brazil squad due to a knee injury, joining Saliba, who will not be linking up with France. Trossard has earlier dropped out of the Belgium squad. Odegaard and Timber are not linking up with the Dutch national teams as they work on their fitness over the break while Eze is out of the England squad.

“Gabriel Magalhães is out of the friendlies against France and Croatia. After the match this Sunday against Manchester City in the English League Cup final, the player complained of pain in his right knee.”

“Imaging tests confirmed that Gabriel Magalhães is not fit for the matches in this FIFA international window. No other player will be called up to replace him” a statement from the Brazilian national team noted.

Manager Mikel Arteta seems focused on keeping the squad fresh as they lead the Premier League by several points, with Ødegaard rehabbing for a quick return and Saka and Rice getting a short break before joining England.
