Nigeria’s Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, has urged global leaders to embrace an inclusive reset of the world economy, placing emerging markets at the center of decision-making.
Speaking during a high-level panel of finance ministers at the Al Ula Conference for Emerging Market Economies, Edun emphasized the need to reshape international trade, monetary systems, and macroeconomic policies in response to the profound transformations sweeping the global economy.
“Emerging markets must have a stronger voice in shaping the future of global finance. The reset cannot be complete without inclusivity,” Edun declared to an audience of global finance leaders.
He highlighted the growing strategic importance of Gulf nations in steering trade, investment, and capital flows, noting that Nigeria is committed to forging stronger partnerships that advance a fairer global financial architecture.
“Nigeria stands ready to collaborate in building a system that works for all — not just the few,” he added.
The conference, held in the historic city of Al Ula, brought together finance ministers and economic strategists from across the developing world, underscoring the urgency of rethinking global economic governance in a time of shifting power dynamics.
