Turaki-led PDP Faction Heads To Appeal Court After Ibadan Ruling

The Kabiru Turaki–led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party has announced plans to appeal Friday’s judgment of the Federal High Court in Ibadan, which declined to grant its request for an order of mandamus.

The court ruled that granting the application would amount to sitting on appeal over decisions of courts of coordinate jurisdiction.

In a statement posted on X on Friday, the PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, said the outcome was “not unexpected” and confirmed that the faction had instructed its legal team to file an appeal immediately.

Despite the ruling, the faction insisted it remains legally intact and unshaken, expressing confidence that the appellate courts would uphold its position.

The party urged members to remain calm and resolute, stressing that there was “absolutely no cause for alarm” and that the rebirth movement remains on course.

The appeal comes amid ongoing leadership disputes within the PDP, as rival factions continue to seek judicial validation of their legitimacy.
