Why I Returned To APC — Ex-Ondo PDP Gov Candidate Ajayi

Former Ondo State deputy governor and 2024 governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Agboola Ajayi, has explained his decision to leave the PDP and rejoin the All Progressives Congress.

Ajayi spoke in Igbekebo, Ese-Odo Local Government Area, where he was formally received by leaders of the APC. He said his return would allow him to participate fully in party activities and support Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s EASE agenda and President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda.

“I was a member of APC before and served as deputy governor. There were misunderstandings then, but I am back fully now,” Ajayi said.

Drawing an analogy from Kenyan politics, Ajayi said political differences should give way to unity in the interest of development, noting that campaign hostilities were often driven by propaganda.

He commended President Tinubu for what he described as bold economic reforms, saying the policies had laid a solid foundation that future administrations would build upon.

Ajayi also urged Ondo residents to support Governor Aiyedatiwa, stressing that collective effort was needed to move the state and the country forward.

Speaking at the event, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Legislative and Party Affairs, Babatunde Kolawole, described Ajayi’s return as a “major value addition” to the APC, saying it would strengthen the party’s developmental drive in the state.

Kolawole expressed confidence that the APC would record massive electoral success in Ondo State ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Earlier, the state chairman of the APC, Ade Adetimehin, described Ajayi as a grassroots politician with deep knowledge of the state, adding that his return had further united the party.
