EFCC Has Lost Its Way — Timi Frank Demands Chairman’s Exit

The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, is facing fresh criticism after former APC spokesman Timi Frank accused him of politicising the agency and called for his resignation.

In a statement on Wednesday, Frank alleged that the EFCC had abandoned its anti-corruption mandate and was now engaged in selective prosecution and political negotiations.

He claimed the Commission now acts as a mediator for politicians seeking protection rather than as a prosecuting authority, particularly during party defections.

Frank cited cases involving former Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and other ex-governors, alleging investigations slowed or stopped after political realignments.

He also challenged the EFCC to show transparency in cases involving Abubakar Malami, Godwin Emefiele and others.

According to Frank, the situation has eroded public trust in the anti-graft agency.
