No Rift Between Osimhen, Lookman — Ndidi

Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi has played down suggestions of a rift between Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman, saying their on-field disagreement during Monday night’s match was simply a reflection of their competitive spirit.

Speaking to ESPN after Nigeria’s 4–0 victory over Mozambique at AFCON 2025, Ndidi said the exchange was driven by both players’ desire to push the team further.

“It was just a competitive mindset. We wanted more, and that moment came from two players who wanted more,” he said.

Ndidi added that the issue was quickly resolved in the dressing room and that there is no lingering tension within the squad.

“Everything is fine. We’ve thrashed it out, and we are in this together,” he said.

Lookman also dismissed the incident, insisting there is no problem between him and Osimhen.

“Vic is our number one guy. He’s a top striker. It’s just football — he is my brother,” the 2024 African Footballer of the Year said.

The Super Eagles will face the winner of the Algeria versus DR Congo tie for a place in the semi-finals.
