PFN Pressure As Pastor Okafor Steps Down Over Allegations

Senior pastor of the Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, Chris Okafor, has stepped down temporarily from pastoral duties following public outrage over multiple sexual allegations against him.

His decision comes weeks after actress Doris Ogala accused him of betrayal and emotional manipulation, and days after he apologised to her publicly during a church service. The controversy intensified after Okafor married another woman, identified as Pearl, in December.

According to reports within the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), senior church leaders privately pressured him to step aside to reduce tension, although the PFN said it lacks the legal power to investigate criminal allegations.

However, Okafor told his congregation that he stepped down for spiritual retreat and rest, insisting the decision was taken on God’s instruction and not as an admission of wrongdoing. He said the break would last until February.
