Wabara Denies Defection, Says He Remains In PDP

Former Senate President and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Adolphus Wabara, has denied reports that he defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Wabara described the claims as “fake and mischievous,” urging party members and the public to ignore what he called planted social media reports.

He explained that a photo circulating online showing him with former President Olusegun Obasanjo and Peter Obi was an old picture taken last year at Obasanjo’s Abeokuta residence, not at any political meeting in Enugu.

Wabara said the reports were sponsored by disgruntled elements seeking to destabilise the PDP, insisting he remains committed to the party and its return to power in 2027.

“No amount of lies or blackmail can change the fact that I am still in the PDP and committed to rebuilding it,” he said.
