Ogun Police Arraign Driver Over Lagos–Ibadan Crash That Killed Two

The Ogun State Police have arraigned Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, 46, driver of a Lexus SUV involved in a deadly accident on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway that claimed two lives. The incident had earlier sparked false reports linking former world heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua to the crash.

Kayode was charged with dangerous driving causing death, reckless and negligent driving, causing bodily harm, and driving without a valid license. The Sagamu Magistrate Court granted him ₦5 million bail with two sureties and adjourned the case to January 20, 2026.

Police clarified that Anthony Joshua, who was a passenger in the SUV along with two friends, Latif Ayodele and Sina Ghami, was not involved in the accident. Ayodele and Ghami died at the scene, while Joshua and the driver sustained minor injuries.

Meanwhile, Joshua has since been discharged from the hospital.

DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, Ogun State Police PRO, confirmed investigations have concluded and assured that the matter will be prosecuted according to the law.
