Nigeria Reaffirms Commitment To Digital Health Transformation At HIMSS Eurasia 2025

Nigeria has reiterated its commitment to building a digitally driven, people-focused health system as Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Iziaq Adekunle Salako, delivered a compelling address at the 2025 HIMSS Eurasia HealthTech Conference & Exhibition held at the Susesi Luxury Resort in Antalya.

Speaking to global health leaders, innovators, and policymakers, Dr. Salako said the forum represents “a catalyst for strengthening bilateral partnerships, exploring scalable innovations, and building bridges between Nigeria, Africa, Eurasia, and the global health community.”

The Minister emphasised that health systems worldwide are undergoing unprecedented transformation driven by technologies such as AI, robotics, digital hospitals, genomic science, and computer vision. He noted that Nigeria is fully aligned with this global shift in its implementation of the Nigeria Health Sector Renewal Investment Initiative (NHSRII)

“Populations are growing, diseases are evolving, and expectations are rising. Digital transformation of healthcare delivery is no longer optional; it is essential — and Nigeria is fully embracing this imperative,” he said.

Continuing. He said under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Nigeria’s health reforms are anchored on four pillars: better governance, quality service delivery, unlocking the healthcare value chain, and health security.

Dr. Salako highlighted Nigeria’s major investments to modernize and integrate its health system. Central to this effort is the Nigeria Digital in Health Initiative (NDHI) and the development of the country’s National Digital Health Architecture (NDHA) — described as the unified blueprint to end longstanding fragmentation in the health data ecosystem.
