Trump Sues NYT, Penguin Random House For $15 Billion Over Defamation

U.S. President Donald Trump has filed a $15 billion defamation lawsuit against the New York Times and publisher Penguin Random House, accusing them of publishing false and damaging material.

The suit, lodged in Florida federal court, targets three articles and the 2024 book “Lucky Loser: How Donald Trump Squandered His Father’s Fortune and Created the Illusion of Success.” Trump’s lawyers say the publications harmed his reputation and business interests.

The Times dismissed the case as baseless and aimed at silencing reporting. Penguin Random House declined comment.

The case adds to Trump’s series of lawsuits against media outlets, including recent actions against the Wall Street Journal, CBS, and ABC.
