US Bars Palestinian Officials From UN Summit On Statehood Push

The United States will bar Palestinian Authority officials from attending next month’s UN General Assembly, where France is leading a push to recognize a Palestinian state.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced Friday that visas for members of the Palestinian Authority and PLO are being revoked, accusing them of undermining peace efforts and waging “lawfare” against Israel through international courts.

The move underscores Washington’s alignment with Israel and comes despite its obligations as UN host to grant entry to foreign officials.

The State Department insists it remains in compliance by allowing the Palestinian mission in New York to operate.
