2027: PDP Zones Presidential Ticket To South As Damagum Emerges Substantive National Chairman

The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has zoned the presidential ticket for the 2027 general election to the southern region of the country.

This is even as the party retained the National Chairmanship of the party in the north.

These decisions were taken by party leaders during the 102^nd NEC meeting of the party in Abuja on Monday, August 25, 2025.

Consequently, the party appointed Ambassador Iliya Damagum as its substantive National Chairman.

This development was announced on the official X Platform of the party.

“The 102 National Executive Committee (NEC) of our great Party, the PDP has appointed Amb Iliya Damagum as the substantive National Chairman of the Party” the post reads.
