NAFDAC Warns Nigerians Against Fake Cowbell Milk In Circulation

Published

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has raised an alarm over the circulation of counterfeit Cowbell “Our Milk” 12g sachets in Nigeria.

According to the agency, Promasidor Nigeria Ltd., makers of Cowbell, confirmed that the fake products copy its brand name, packaging, and NAFDAC number, even though the design was last used in 2023.

While the genuine Cowbell sachets are creamy and carry laser-printed batch details with automated sealing, the counterfeits appear diluted, use outdated packaging, have ink-printed codes, and are poorly sealed.

NAFDAC warned that consuming the fake milk poses serious health risks, including food poisoning, allergic reactions, organ damage, or even death especially among infants, children, pregnant women, and the elderly.

The agency has ordered surveillance and mop-up operations nationwide and urged consumers to buy only from authorised distributors, carefully check packaging, and report suspicious products via its hotlines or website.
