The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has filed four separate suits at the Federal High Court, Abuja, seeking the removal of two senators and two House of Representatives members from Osun State who defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Those affected are Senators Francis Fadahunsi (Osun East), Olubiyi Fadeyi (Osun Central), Omirin Olusanya (Atakunmosa East/West & Ilesa East/West), and Taofeek Ajilesoro (Ife Federal Constituency).
In the suits filed on Wednesday, PDP argued that their defection violated Section 68(1)(g) of the 1999 Constitution, which bars lawmakers from abandoning the party on whose platform they were elected, except in cases of a division or merger.
The party prayed the court to declare their seats vacant, compel Senate President Godswill Akpabio and House Speaker Tajudeen Abbas to withdraw their entitlements, and order INEC to conduct by-elections in the affected constituencies.
The cases, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/1725/2025 to FHC/ABJ/CS/1728/2025, are yet to be assigned to a judge.
