Netanyahu Blasts Macron: ‘Palestinian Statehood Fuels Antisemitism’

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has accused French President Emmanuel Macron of stoking antisemitism by pledging to recognise a Palestinian state.

In a letter seen by AFP on Tuesday, Netanyahu warned Macron that his stance “pours fuel on the antisemitic fire,” emboldens Hamas, and endangers French Jews.

France is set to formalise recognition at the UN in September, joining other nations that backed Palestinian statehood after Israel’s Gaza offensive two years ago.

Netanyahu urged Macron to “replace weakness with action” and set a firm anti-antisemitism agenda before the Jewish New Year on September 23.
