Edo By-Election: Gov Okpebholo Decries Slow BIVAS

Governor Monday Okpebholo on Saturday voted in the Edo Central senatorial by-election at Udomi Primary School, Esan Central LGA, but criticised delays caused by the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BIVAS).

He said the machines were too slow, though the exercise remained peaceful. His wife, Mrs. Edesili Okpebholo Anani, commended INEC for a smooth process and urged voters to defend their votes.

Reports from Irrua and Uromi showed early turnout, with accreditation starting by 8 a.m.

The poll is to fill the Senate seat vacated after Okpebholo became governor.
