Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, says local government autonomy must be matched with responsibility and transparency, not used for self-enrichment.
Speaking at a workshop in Akure for LG officials, Aiyedatiwa said political office is a sacred duty, not a tool for personal gain.
The event, organised in collaboration with the EFCC, ICPC, and SPFACC, focused on financial discipline and grassroots development.
“We’re committed to entrenching accountability and effective service delivery across all tiers,” he said.
Anti-graft agencies praised the initiative, warning against unchecked wealth and urging local leaders to serve with integrity.
