Singer Portable Remanded In Prison Over Inability To Meet Bail Conditions

Controversial Nigerian singer, Okikiola Badmus, popularly known as Portable, has been remanded at the Oke Kura Correctional Centre in Ilorin, Kwara State, after failing to meet the bail conditions set by an Upper Area Court.

Portable appeared before the court on Monday to answer criminal defamation charges filed against him by Fuji music legend, Akorede Saheed, also known as Saheed Osupa.

The court granted Portable bail in the sum of ₦1 million, but imposed stringent conditions. He was required to produce two sureties in like sum:

• One must be either the Chairman or Secretary of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN).
• The other must be a property owner in a Government Reserved Area (GRA) of Ilorin, with a valid Certificate of Occupancy.

As of the time of reporting, Portable has not fulfilled these requirements, resulting in his remand to the correctional facility.

The singer, known for his hit track Zazoo Zeh, has been involved in several controversies and public feuds, including with fellow entertainers like Taye Currency and Olamide.
